Jello Mousse is a delicious mousse dessert that's made by combining a jello package with Greek yogurt or whipping cream. It creates a delicious flavor and the dessert is light and fluffy to really take it to the next level.
The great thing about Jello Mousse is that it's so versatile. You can make it in any flavor or color you want, and you can also mix and match flavors to create something unique. You can also add fresh fruit to the mousse for an extra special touch, as I have in this recipe.
What Makes This Jello Mousse Recipe Special?
This Jello mousse recipe is special because it combines the goodness of Greek yogurt along with other commonly used ingredients such as cream. This makes the mousse lighter and healthier than traditional recipes.
The addition of raspberry Jell-O gives it a beautiful pink color and a delicious fruity flavor. It's also easy to make ahead of time, so you can prepare it in advance for your next gathering.
Plus, it's so easy to make that even kids can help out in the kitchen. They'll love picking out their favorite flavors and colors, and they'll be proud of the end result.

What You Need to Make Jello Mousse at Home
All you need are some simple ingredients to make this delicious jello mousse at home. Here's everything you'll need:
Mousse Ingredients
- Greek yogurt: My recipe calls for Greek yogurt which will not only give you a healthier mousse, but also a lighter one that'll go incredibly well with the rest of the components of this dessert.
- Condensed milk: We'll be beating the Greek yogurt along with condensed milk for a delicious flavor and the condensed milk will also improve the consistency of the jello mousse.
- Cream: You'll also need either some heavy whipping cream or thawed Cool Whip to add to the mousse to give it an airy consistency and a flavor that's absolutely unforgettable. I usually use heavy whipping cream instead of Cool Whip.
- Raspberry Jell-O: And, of course, we'll also need some raspberry jello to add the jello flavor to our mousse.
Jello Ingredients
- Fresh raspberries: To elevate the flavor and make your jello mousse even more beautiful, we'll also be adding some fresh raspberries to our jello mousse by incorporating them into a layer before adding the clear jello to it.
- Raspberry Jell-O: You'll also need some jello here to add that clear jello layer on top of your jello mousse layer for a visually beautiful dessert that tastes exceptional!
How to Make Jello Mousse (Step-by-Step)
Making this delicious jello mousse dessert is easier than you think. Here's what you need to do to make it step by step:
How to Make Jello for Jello Mousse
Start by adding one packet of Jell-O to 2 cups of boiling water.
Then stir the jello mixture until the gelatin dissolves.
Let it cool down (but not set) before adding it to the cream.
How to Make Mousse for Jello Mousse
Start by beating Greek yogurt with condensed milk for 30 seconds in a stand mixer or electric mixer. Scrape down cream from the sides of the mixer bowl with a spatula and beat again for 30 seconds.
Add thawed heavy wiping cream or thawed cool whip and beat for 30 seconds more (scraping down the cream as needed), or until all is combined and smooth in texture.
Slowly pour in cooled Jell-O to the cream with the mixer running on low speed.
After all the Jell-O is in the cream increase the mixer speed to medium and beat for 30 seconds. Scrape down the sides of the bowl to make sure all the cream and Jell-O are mixed together well and have a nice smooth texture.
How to Assemble Jello Mousse
Divide the mousse between six 8 oz. glasses (or 16 - 4 oz. glasses), and fill it about three-fourths of the way full.
Tap each glass to level the mousse in the glasses. Next, lay out 3 - 6 fresh raspberries on top of the mousse in each glass.
Place mousse glasses into the fridge to set before adding the clear Jell-O.
While the mousse sets in the fridge, prepare the topping (second pack) Jell-O by following the instruction on the package. Let the Jell-O cool to room temperature.
Remove dessert dish cups from the fridge, and pour cooled Jell-O to the top of all the glasses.
Place cups back into the fridge to set completely.
Your delicious Jello Mousse is ready to be served.
How Long Does the Mousse Take to Set in the Fridge?
The mousse will take about 30 minutes to set in the fridge. It is important to let the mousse layer cool completely before adding the clear Jell-O topping, as this will help ensure that the mousse sets properly.
Once you have added the clear Jell-O topping, it should take an additional 30 minutes for it to set completely.
Can You Use Frozen Raspberries Instead of Fresh Ones?
Yes, you can use frozen raspberries instead of fresh ones for this recipe. However, it is important to note that the texture of the mousse may be slightly different when using frozen berries. If you are using frozen raspberries, make sure to thaw them before adding them to the mousse.
Recipe Variation Ideas for Jello Mousse
Jello mousse is a delicious and versatile dessert that can be easily adapted to suit any occasion. Here are some ideas for variations on the classic recipe:
Strawberry Jello: Use some Strawberry Jell-O, fresh strawberries, and create a strawberry mousse using my recipe and follow all the same instructions for the tastiest strawberry jello ever!
Lemon Jello: You can also make some lemon jello and add fresh berries to it such as raspberries, blueberries, or strawberries. Experiment with other jello flavors, the combinations are truly endless!
Toppings: Garnish with a layer of crushed cookies or graham crackers for a crunchy texture. You can also sprinkle some cocoa powder or chocolate chips on top. Another great idea is to add a dollop of whipped cream before serving.
How to Store Leftover Jello Mousse
These mousse desserts can last in the fridge at the proper temperature for 4 -5 days. I don't recommend freezing the jello mousse. It changes the texture of the mousse and it doesn't even fully freeze and is likely to change the texture too much, affecting the taste of the mousse.

Made this for Thanksgiving and it was a hit! The mousse part was so flavorful yet so light, very smooth and pleasant. Came out to 20 short clear plastic tumblers from Dollar Tree; roughly 3/4 of the cup was filled. Added the cute little plastic silver spoons from Dollar Tree to elevate the presentation. Thank you so much Valya for the yummy, beautiful, and simple dessert!

Hello. Where did you purchase those nice glass cups?
Valya's Taste of Home says
The Home Goods store.

Do you happen to know offhand: If I wanted to use your recipe to make a ring mold in a bundt pan, would the current proportions be correct, or would I 1.5x or 2x them? If you don't know, I can calculate the ounces... just thought I'd ask.
Valya's Taste of Home says
Hi Erin! I don't think you need to increase the ingredients and it should all fit into the bundt mold pan. What a great idea, thank you!

Made it few times. Turns out amazing every time!👌😋😋

Hi Valya, how many days in advance can I make these? Also, will they turn out just as good it made in plastic cups?
Valya's Taste of Home says
These mousse desserts can last in the fridge at the proper temperature for 4 -5 days. Yes, plastic cups are totally fine to use. Thanks for asking!

If I’m using heavy cream, do I just pour it in cold?
Valya's Taste of Home says
Yes, cold heavy cream straight from the fridge.
Also, do I cover the plastic cups individually while in the fridge?
Not necessarily, unless you're making it days in advance then I would cover to prevent the top layer from drying.
Do I just add the whipping cream from the fridge cold? It doesn't turn out smooth and stuff like in your pictures if I replace that in the recipe, but rather it's smooth.. how do I go about pouring it into the cups?
It will thin out before it starts thickening, don't worry, keep mixing until the cream starts to come together - increase the mixing speed as the cream thickens.
Also, what is the best way to scoop it into cups so it doesn't get over the sides?
I use a large piping bag. Pinch the other end of the bag to prevent the cream from escaping. I hope this helps.

I want to make this jello in a 9 by 13 inch. baking dish for Thanksgiving. Would it work? Should I double the recipe?
Valya's Taste of Home says
Yes, it would work. I would double the recipe as well. Let me know how it turned out?

One of the best dessert I have ever tried from yogurt!

Oh! I just had another idea! What if I just mix together yogurt & condensed milk? Without adding the cool whip? So mix yogurt, condensed milk, & then add in the cooled Jello-O? Can I do that?
Also you can make your own Jell-O at home! Without all the sickening ingredients that come in the packaged Jell-O packets. Here is the link: http://www.mamanatural.com/how-to-make-healthy-jello/

I have not done it that way. That sound like another recipe development idea. I have to check that Jell-O recipe out. I love DIY at home recipes. Thank you!

Can I use any kind of plain yogurt instead of the Fage Greek Yogurt?
Also, can I use the regular Fage Total Greek Yogurt? - the one that is without the 0%.?
valya'stasteofhome.com says
Hi Julie. Yes, you can use any kind of plain Greek Yogurt, including regular.

This looks amazing!! 🙂 Is the mousse a bit stiff or not? Because I want to make these for wedding.
valya'stasteofhome.com says
The mousse is pretty stiff, similar to jello. Thanks for stopping by and commenting ?
