    Healthy Winter Fruit Salad

Similar to the Tropical Fruit Salad I posted a year ago, this Winter Salad coated with my favorite citrus poppy seed dressing, is just as delicious and irresistible. What is there not to love about fresh and beautiful fruit salad? Loaded with nutrients and vitamins we all need during cold winter months.

This salad is so easy to make but is such an attractive addition to your table. And a healthy snack at any time the day. The serving is big enough to feed a crowd, but if you need smaller portions, simply divide the recipe ingredients. As far as fruit goes, the salad is just as fresh the next day, so if you have leftovers just keep it covered in the fridge and enjoy again.

When it comes to fruit salad, however, I usually never have leftovers. That is how much my family loves it! So be sure to make this salad for upcoming Thanksgiving or Christmas and eat healthy during the holiday season too! 😉

    Ingredients:
    2 large – Pomegranates
    2 large – Pears
    2 large – Persimmons
2 large – Honey Crisp apples
    4 – Kiwis
    6 – Mandarins

    Healthy Winter Fruit Salad

    Dressing Ingredients:

I used this same dressing for the Tropical Fruit Salad. In this recipe, however, I switched the mandarin with an orange and used raw honey.
    1 large – Orange
    ½ large – Lemon
    ¼ cup (60 ml) – raw honey
    ½ tsp. (1.25 ml) – poppy seeds

    Instructions:

TIP: Make the dressing first and store it in the fridge until ready for use. Fruit like pears and apples brown quickly and should be diced last.

    1. Wash all fruit. Peel, dice, or slice them.

    2. In a large bowl, combine all the fruit together.

    3. Pour previously-prepped dressing over the fruit salad.

    4. Carefully mix and toss to coat.

Serve right away or cover with an air-tight lid and refrigerate until ready to serve. Enjoy!

How do you make the dressing? Do you just use the juice from the orange & lemon along with the honey & poppy seeds for the dressing g?

Where can I find persimmons? Can I substitute something else if it's not available?

Persimmons are in season right now and can be found at any grocery store. You can omit the persimmons if you cant find it or substitute with plums. I hope this helps.

How quickly do the pears and apples brown? Would like to take to a potluck at work and it would be in the fridge for 6 or 7 hours.

It only browns while your dicing it, as soon as the fruit get coated with citrus dressing they loose it's brown shades, look normal and doesn't brown any more. So 7 hours is perfectly fine as long as the salad has dressing and refrigerated. I hope this helps. Thanks for your comment 🙂

Hi Niki. You can buy puppy seeds at most grocery stores. If you cant find it in the store, ask an associate. Thank you! Yes, it looks good, but it tastes even better than it looks. Enjoy!
