    Key Ingredients

All you need are some simple pantry staple ingredients to make this breakfast pizza recipe at home. Let's look at them in more detail:

    For the Pizza Dough:

    • Homemade Pizza Dough: For all my homemade pizzas I use this dough recipe but omit the milk in the ingredient list and use water instead. Click HERE for the recipe. Plus, you can make and freeze batches of this for a super easy breakfast recipe on busy mornings.
I've been making Homemade Pizza Dough for many years.

    For the Pizza Topping:

    • Unsalted butter: You’ll be using unsalted butter again, this time to sauté the shallots. It will add richness and flavor to the topping.
    • Garlic powder: We’ll be using garlic powder to add a subtle garlic flavor to the topping.
    • Mozzarella cheese: You’ll be using mozzarella cheese to provide a base layer of melty cheese on the pizza.
    • Shredded sharp cheddar cheese: We’ll also be using shredded sharp cheddar cheese to add a tangy and flavorful layer to the pizza.
    • Eggs: You’ll be cracking some eggs onto the pizza for added protein and richness.
    • Sea salt and pepper: We’ll be seasoning the topping with sea salt and black pepper to taste.
    • Ham: You’ll be adding some ham for a salty and savory flavor. I try to use good quality bacon as it boosts the taste of this pizza.
    • Bacon: We’ll also be adding some bacon for a smoky and salty flavor.
    • Shallot: You’ll be sautéing some shallots to add a sweet and savory flavor to the topping.
Simple toppings ingredients are needed to make this recipe.

    How to Make Breakfast Pizza

Making this incredible breakfast pizza is easier than you think. Here's how to make them at home step by step:

While Pizza dough is in the making prepare all the topping ingredients for the pizza. Oven broil (click HERE to see how) cut bacon, shredded cheese, diced ham, cut shallots, and prepare the eggs. Set aside until ready for use.

Oven broil, cut bacon, shredded cheese, diced ham, cut shallots, and prepare the eggs.

    How to Assemble Breakfast Pizza

To make the Bacon Egg and Ham Breakfast Pizza, start by preparing the pizza dough. You can use a bread maker or a kitchen aid mixer to prepare the dough (you can find the recipe for Homemade Pizza Dough). Once the dough is ready, roll it out to about 14 inches in diameter.

Next, transfer the rolled-out dough onto a pizza stone or oven-safe skillet lined with parchment paper. Make sure the dough is shaped evenly into a round pizza circle with a one-inch border around the edges to prevent the eggs from leaking out.

Preheat your oven to 350 F. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter and brush the edge of the pizza dough with it using a silicone brush. Sprinkle garlic powder onto the buttered edges.

Spread out about ¾ of the shredded mozzarella cheese onto the pizza dough. Beat the eggs in a bowl and season with salt and pepper to taste. Pour the beaten eggs mixture over the spread-out cheese or use scrambled eggs instead.

Spread out about ¾ of the shredded mozzarella cheese onto the pizza dough. Beat the eggs in a bowl and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Now it’s time to add the toppings. Spread the diced ham, bacon, and half of the shallots over the egg and cheese mixture. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese and cheddar cheese over the pizza, and then top it with the remaining shallots.

Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese and cheddar cheese over the pizza, and then top it with the remaining shallots.

Bake the pizza on the lowest oven rack in the preheated oven for 30 minutes (pizza topped with scrambled egg) or 40 minutes (pizza topped with raw eggs), depending on how well done you like your eggs. Once the pizza is ready, remove it from the oven and let it cool before slicing.

This recipes combines everything you love about bacon, ham, and egg with the flavors of pizza for the most delicious combo ever!

    Recipe Tips

    • Preheat the oven: Before starting this breakfast recipe, preheat the oven to make sure that it’s hot enough to cook the pizza evenly.
    • Roll out the dough: Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to make sure that it’s thin and even. This will also help to prevent any air pockets from forming.
    • Use parchment paper: Place the rolled-out dough on a piece of parchment paper to prevent it from sticking to the pan and to make it easier to transfer to the oven.
    • Cook the bacon first: Cook the bacon separately before adding it to the pizza to make sure that it’s crispy and evenly cooked.
    • Add the toppings evenly: When adding the toppings, make sure to distribute them evenly to prevent any part of the pizza from being overloaded or underloaded.
    • Monitor the cooking time: Keep an eye on the pizza while it’s cooking to make sure that it doesn’t burn or overcook. Use a timer if necessary.
    • Let it cool before slicing: Allow the pizza to cool for a few minutes before slicing it to make sure that the toppings stay in place and the cheese doesn’t slide off.

    Substitutions and Variations

This delicious breakfast pizza recipe is perfect as is, but if you're looking to change things up, here are a few variation ideas you can try:

Veggie Delight: For a healthier option, add some spinach, diced tomatoes, bell peppers, and mushrooms to the pizza. This will give it a boost of nutrients and flavor.

Meat Lovers: Add some cooked bacon, sausage, and ham to the pizza for a heartier breakfast option. This variation is perfect for meat lovers and will satisfy their cravings.

Southwest Style: Add some diced jalapenos, black beans, and corn to the pizza for a spicy twist. Top it off with some salsa and sour cream for an authentic southwest flavor.

Mediterranean Madness: Add some feta cheese, olives, and roasted red peppers to the pizza for a Mediterranean twist. This variation is perfect for those who enjoy a savory, salty flavor profile.

Hawaiian Dream: Add some diced pineapple, ham, and bacon to the pizza for a tropical twist. This variation is perfect for those who want a sweet and savory breakfast option.

    Serving Suggestions

Serve slices of the pizza with a side of fresh fruit salad for a light and refreshing breakfast option. The sweetness of the fruit will complement the savory flavors of the pizza.

Top slices of your pizza with a drizzle of hot sauce or salsa for a bit of extra heat and flavor. This is a perfect option for those who like a bit of spice in their breakfast.

Pair slices of pizza with a cup of hot coffee or tea for a cozy and comforting breakfast experience. The warm and savory flavors of the pizza will be a great match for a hot beverage.

Serve slices of breakfast pizza with a side of hash browns or home fries for a classic breakfast combination. The crispy and savory potatoes will contrast nicely with the soft and cheesy pizza.

Top slices of breakfast egg pizza with a fried egg for an extra protein boost and a delicious breakfast twist. The runny yolk will add a creamy and rich texture to the pizza.

Serve it with a side of homemade sausage gravy with toppings of sausages and scrambled eggs for a breakfast sausage pizza. Add your favorite veggies and crumble some parmesan cheese or pepper jack cheese on top.

Yes, you can use different toppings according to your preference. Some other popular toppings for breakfast pizza include sausage, ham, peppers, onions, and mushrooms.

How long does it take to bake?

The pizza should be baked in a preheated oven at 350°F for 8 - 10 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the eggs are cooked to your liking.

How many servings does this recipe make?

This recipe makes one large breakfast pizza, which can serve about 8 people depending on how big you slice it.

    How to Store Leftovers

To store leftovers of this Breakfast Pizza recipe, wrap the remaining slices tightly with plastic wrap or aluminum foil place them in an airtight container, and refrigerate them.

Make sure that the pizza is cooled down to room temperature before storing it in the refrigerator. The leftover pizza can be stored in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.

To reheat the pizza, preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and place the slices on a baking sheet. Bake it for about 8-10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the crust is crispy. Or simply use the microwave. If you want to thaw the frozen pizza, transfer it to the fridge the night before you plan to reheat it.
