How to Make Breakfast Pizza
Making this incredible breakfast pizza is easier than you think. Here's how to make them at home step by step:
While Pizza dough is in the making prepare all the topping ingredients for the pizza. Oven broil (click HERE to see how) cut bacon, shredded cheese, diced ham, cut shallots, and prepare the eggs. Set aside until ready for use.
How to Assemble Breakfast Pizza
To make the Bacon Egg and Ham Breakfast Pizza, start by preparing the pizza dough. You can use a bread maker or a kitchen aid mixer to prepare the dough (you can find the recipe for Homemade Pizza Dough). Once the dough is ready, roll it out to about 14 inches in diameter.
Next, transfer the rolled-out dough onto a pizza stone or oven-safe skillet lined with parchment paper. Make sure the dough is shaped evenly into a round pizza circle with a one-inch border around the edges to prevent the eggs from leaking out.
Preheat your oven to 350 F. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter and brush the edge of the pizza dough with it using a silicone brush. Sprinkle garlic powder onto the buttered edges.
Spread out about ¾ of the shredded mozzarella cheese onto the pizza dough. Beat the eggs in a bowl and season with salt and pepper to taste. Pour the beaten eggs mixture over the spread-out cheese or use scrambled eggs instead.
Now it’s time to add the toppings. Spread the diced ham, bacon, and half of the shallots over the egg and cheese mixture. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese and cheddar cheese over the pizza, and then top it with the remaining shallots.
Bake the pizza on the lowest oven rack in the preheated oven for 30 minutes (pizza topped with scrambled egg) or 40 minutes (pizza topped with raw eggs), depending on how well done you like your eggs. Once the pizza is ready, remove it from the oven and let it cool before slicing.

Recipe Tips
- Preheat the oven: Before starting this breakfast recipe, preheat the oven to make sure that it’s hot enough to cook the pizza evenly.
- Roll out the dough: Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to make sure that it’s thin and even. This will also help to prevent any air pockets from forming.
- Use parchment paper: Place the rolled-out dough on a piece of parchment paper to prevent it from sticking to the pan and to make it easier to transfer to the oven.
- Cook the bacon first: Cook the bacon separately before adding it to the pizza to make sure that it’s crispy and evenly cooked.
- Add the toppings evenly: When adding the toppings, make sure to distribute them evenly to prevent any part of the pizza from being overloaded or underloaded.
- Monitor the cooking time: Keep an eye on the pizza while it’s cooking to make sure that it doesn’t burn or overcook. Use a timer if necessary.
- Let it cool before slicing: Allow the pizza to cool for a few minutes before slicing it to make sure that the toppings stay in place and the cheese doesn’t slide off.
Substitutions and Variations
This delicious breakfast pizza recipe is perfect as is, but if you're looking to change things up, here are a few variation ideas you can try:
Veggie Delight: For a healthier option, add some spinach, diced tomatoes, bell peppers, and mushrooms to the pizza. This will give it a boost of nutrients and flavor.
Meat Lovers: Add some cooked bacon, sausage, and ham to the pizza for a heartier breakfast option. This variation is perfect for meat lovers and will satisfy their cravings.
Southwest Style: Add some diced jalapenos, black beans, and corn to the pizza for a spicy twist. Top it off with some salsa and sour cream for an authentic southwest flavor.
Mediterranean Madness: Add some feta cheese, olives, and roasted red peppers to the pizza for a Mediterranean twist. This variation is perfect for those who enjoy a savory, salty flavor profile.
Hawaiian Dream: Add some diced pineapple, ham, and bacon to the pizza for a tropical twist. This variation is perfect for those who want a sweet and savory breakfast option.
