I’ve been making Homemade Pizza Dough for many years. I personally prefer homemade dough for homemade pizzas over restaurant bought. Firstly, preparing it from scratch at home is the essence of the taste of home. Secondly, because I know that it has been prepared cleanly with the freshest ingredients for an unbeatable, delicious taste. It’s always a handy thing to have some pizza dough already made for those busy days you couldn’t possibly fit in too much prep time, or for those days when you don’t feel like spending too much time making a big fancy dinner. When anticipating such a time a day in advance, all you would have to do is take the dough out of the freezer the night before to thaw.
This dough recipe is good for two 13″ pizzas. When you make the dough on the same day you will be making pizza, and this portion turns out a bit much for your family size, you’ve got the perfect opportunity to freeze the rest to have on hand later. Knead the second half of the dough into a neat ball, smear some olive oil and place in a freezer bag. Pizza dough can be frozen for up to a couple of months to be enjoyed for a later time.
Ingredients you will need:
5 cups – all-purpose flour
2 tbsp. – dry milk powder
2 tbsp. – organic (or granulated) sugar
2 tbsp. – butter room temperature
1 tbsp. – dry active yeast
1 tsp. – salt
2 cups – lukewarm water
Instructions:
1. Place all dry ingredients into a bread machine maker pan.
2. Add lukewarm water. Set the bread machine to dough cycle. Place the bread machine pan into the bread machine maker (See the right side bar of the blog page what bread maker machine I have and been using for over 10 years, if you need one simply click on the bread maker picture to order one for your self).
3. It takes about 30 minutes for the dough cycle to mix the dough. The rest of the dough cycle it will be rising for about one hour.
4. After the dough rises, transfer the dough onto a greased working surface (I use large cutting board).
5. Knead the dough and form it into a ball shape.
6. Split the dough ball into half. One half of the dough is plenty for one 13” pizza (I make two pizzas at a time, and I do use 2 halves at ones). If this portion is too much for the size of your family, you can freeze the second half of the dough. Just coat it with olive oil, and place it into a freezing bag. You can freeze the dough for a couple of months, and then when the dough is needed, just place it over nigh into refrigerator to thaw.

You are very welcome Kristina. Enjoy! 🙂
Can the dry milk powder be omitted? Is there anything to substitute it for?
You can substitute with milk, but you will need to add less water.
oh my! this recipe is AMAZING! Thank you SO much t. Valya!!! i used 2 tbsp. of olive oil instead of butter. I didn’t have dry milk so I used 1/2 cup of milk & 1 and a half cup of lukewarm water. It turned out AMAZING! This recipe is a keeper! The dough came out so squeaky, puffy, & soft! I was SO amazed with the results! Husband approved and said to make it again please. I will be making homemade pizza very often now! Thank you SO SO much again! Please keep posting more recipes! Your blog is amazing! May God bless you, t. Valya!
Aww…that’s awesome! I’m so happy to hear that! Thank you for sharing your amazing review! This is the only pizza dough recipe approved by my family too. I don’t think oils make any difference, but I’m eager to try adding olive oil instead of butter next time I make pizza dough. Thank you for the idea Victoria, and thank you for visiting my blog and making my recipes. Gods blessings to you too! 🙂
This dough recipe is AMAZING!!!! Thank you so much for posting this, t. Valya!! I made this and used these toppings: sauce, cheese, bacon, bbq chicken, red onion slices, & spinach. Pre heated the oven to 500°F and then baked for 15 minutes. It turned out AMAZING!!! NOTHING compared to the pizza places around town! Homemade is BEST!!!
True that, nothing beats homemade meals! I’m glad you liked the recipe and thank you very much for amazing review Jessi! 🙂
