What is Crunchwrap Supreme?
Crunchwrap Supreme is a delicious dish served at Taco Bell that features seasoned ground beef, laced with a nacho cheese sauce, along with lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream all wrapped in a flour tortilla.
But the best part about it is the ‘crunch’ element – the hidden crunchy tostada shell that makes it all even better! The delicious corn tortilla makes all the difference and takes this dish to the next level.
The thing is, though, that we all know how unhealthy it can be to eat fast food and take-out. It’s just not feasible to do every day and I don’t prefer making my family have all those excess calories and preservatives!
And that’s why this tasty, Taco Bell copycat recipe is going to become your next best favorite!
Does This Recipe Taste Similar to Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme?
These Homemade Crunchwrap Supreme are incredibly similar to Taco Bell’s Crunchwrap, but have a fresher and homier taste!
I was glad to see it become a huge hit in my house because the requests for this tasty homemade Crunchwrap increased. My kids say that homemade tastes even better, so they named this post ‘the BEST Homemade Crunchwrap Supreme’.
As usual, this is a large recipe, which is unavoidable for my family size. If you make this recipe and have leftovers, it’s not a scary thing. Just refrigerate all the ingredients separately, cover them with plastic food wrap, and reheat them well for a good lunch the next day.
Even though you get your order fast at Taco Bell, I would not call this recipe ‘fast food.’ When made at home, it involves multiple steps in prep, cooking, and assembling before you get to the yummy final product. It is totally worth it, though.
This recipe tastes, like Taco Bell's, but is prepared in a way you know you can trust, which makes it much more delicious and enjoyable. If you like Mexican food, you will love this treat as well.
What You Need to Make Copycat Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme
Making this delicious Homemade Crunchwrap Supreme recipe at home is easier than you think. Here are all the simple ingredients you’ll need:
- Flour tortillas: We’ll be using some large tortillas (burrito-size) to wrap all our other ingredients for the perfect crunch wrap supreme! Make sure they’re large in size so that you can easily wrap them.
- Tostadas: We’ll be needing some crispy corn tortillas that we will later heat in the oven so that they perfectly crunch up. These crunchy tostada shells make all the difference!
- Ground beef (See how to grind meat at home HERE): I recommend using an 80/20 ground beef mix. Always keep in mind that fats are where the flavor is, but we also don’t want to make it too fatty. That’s why an 80/20 mix is pretty spot on.
For the Seasoning:
- Sea salt: We’ll need a little salt to season our meat to perfection.
- Garlic salt: To add a little just of garlic, we’ll be using some garlic salt in our seasoning mix.
- Ground pepper: We’ll also be using some ground black pepper to season our meat and bring out all the flavors.
- Taco seasoning: This will give your Crunchwrap Supreme that authentic flavor and will perfectly compliment all the other seasonings.
- Water: We’ll be adding all our seasonings to the water to quickly mix everything in our ground beef when cooking it.
- Olive oil: You’ll need some olive oil to sauté the meat when cooking it.
For the Nacho Cheese Sauce:
- Butter: We’ll be needing some unsalted butter that we’ll then mix with our next ingredient for a delicious base for our nacho cheese sauce.
- All-purpose flour: To make the base of our cheese sauce, we’ll be mixing butter with all-purpose flour to make a basic roux that we will then mix with our other ingredients for the most perfect sauce.
- Whole milk: We’ll be using some milk to add to our roux to get the right consistency. Make sure your milk is at room temperature to avoid any lumps in our sauce.
- Sea salt and cayenne pepper: We’ll be using some salt and a little bit of cayenne pepper to balance out all our flavors. Make sure to use very little cayenne pepper since it can be very spicy and hot.
- Cheddar Cheese: I’ve used some cheddar cheese for a classic mix, but you can also use a Mexican cheese blend instead.
For the Toppings:
- Iceberg lettuce: For an extra flavor of crunch, use some iceberg lettuce in your crunchwrap supreme.
- Tomatoes: We’ll also be adding some chopped tomatoes for an authentic touch.
- Sour cream: Sour cream seriously brings all the flavors together for the most delicious final product ever!

Recipe Variation Ideas for Copycat Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme
This recipe is honestly absolutely perfect on its own. So many of my readers have tried it and absolutely loved it. But if you’re looking to change things up, you can try these variation ideas:
Toppings: You can add just about any toppings you like. I’ve added the classics, but feel free to add whichever other veggies you like onions, chopped cilantro, etc.
Seasonings: Some other seasonings you might like include chili powder, garlic powder, paprika, cumin, and a squeeze of lime. They’re already included in the taco seasoning I’ve mentioned, but you can add a bit more of these to make it spicier.
How to Store Leftover Crunchwrap Supreme
If you have some leftovers, you can store them all separately for up to 3 days. Just reheat and assemble it all before serving.
When reheating cheese sauce the next day, add a little more milk to the pot and reheat on the stovetop over low heat.
Trust me, it’ll taste like you just made everything at that very moment. This is also why it’s a great recipe to separately make and prep ahead. All you’ll need to do is assemble it before serving.
I don’t recommend freezing all the components as some might not freeze as well (e.g. cheese sauce). You can, however, freeze the seasoned and cooked ground beef for up to three months.

I had to go back to write a big THANK YOU for this recipe.. I just made those and they wore the best!! Everyone loved them! The only thing that I did is I didn't add anything else in meat except taco seasoning and I found that I have no lattuce, so I used cabbage( it was getting oldish so it wasn't as crunchy) and it work out perfect!! Will recommend this to everyone! ♡♡♡
