Trust me, they'll fly off any table before you know it! Enjoy creating and eating these delicious Easter treats!

What are Easter Egg Oreo Truffles?

Easter egg Oreo truffles are a delicious treat that combines the classic flavor of Oreos with the creamy richness of chocolate. They are easy to make and only require a few simple ingredients – finely crushed Oreos, cream cheese, and melted chocolate.

The mixture is formed into egg-like shapes and dipped in melted chocolate for an extra layer of sweetness. They are decorated with colorful and fun sprinkles, making them a delicious and festive Easter treat.

    Why You'll Love This Recipe

This recipe is special because it's not only easy to make and uses ingredients that you probably have in your pantry, but it's also fun for kids of all ages. Let's look at some of the top reasons why they're so good:

Kid-friendly: Easter egg Oreo truffles are an awesome treat to make with kids. With just a little help, they'll have a great time dipping and decorating!

Festive: These delicious treats look fantastic on any holiday meal table. They're egg-shaped and brightly decorated, making them perfect for Easter!

Delicious: This dessert doesn't just look great, they're delicious as well! Chocolate-dipped Oreo peeps with a slight tanginess from cream cheese is truly the perfect combination.

Gift-giving: Easter is all about sharing the love, and these Easter egg oreo truffles make it fun and inexpensive to do it. Your kids will enjoy making them and your loved ones will love receiving them!

Versatile: You can use just about any flavor of oreo you like to make your own version of this delicious recipe. Plus, you can even experiment with the chocolate melts to change up the flavor!

What Oreo Cookies are Best to Use?

I've used Peeps oreo cookies to make these delicious treats so that they're extra special, but you can use just about any oreo cookies you like. From regular oreos to other flavors, everything works.

Plus, you can even try making different flavored ones by using other oreo flavors such as red velvet, lemon, mint, golden oreos, strawberry, etc. This is truly a versatile recipe!

    Key Ingredients

All you need are some incredibly simple, pantry staple ingredients to make these delicious Easter Egg Oreo Truffles at home. Let's take a closer look at what you'll need:

    • Cream cheese: First we'll need some cream cheese for these Easter egg Oreo truffles. The slight tanginess really compliments the sweetness of the Oreos!
    • Peeps Oreo cookies: Next we're going to use the Peeps version of Oreo cookies. The sweet marshmallow filling pairs perfectly with the cream cheese. Plus, it makes your Oreo cookie balls extra special. But go ahead with whichever Oreos you love best!

    • White chocolate melts: We're going to use quite a bit of white chocolate melts. These are for dunking our egg-shaped truffles to coat them in chocolate.
    • Assorted candy melts: We also need different colored chocolate candy melts to drizzle over the egg shapes. I used pink, green, blue, and yellow, but you can use your favorite colors.
    • Sprinkles: Lastly, we'll use some colorful sprinkles to finish off the decorations.

    • Liners: We'll also need a pack of mini-cupcake liners as well for the perfect presentation!

How to Make Easter Egg Oreo Truffles

Making this delicious dessert is easier than you think. Here's what you need to make it step by step:

How to Make Easter Egg Oreo Truffles

Start out by crushing the Oreo cookies in a food processor for 2 minutes, or until they're finely crumbed.

Transfer the crushed Oreos to a large mixing bowl and add softened cream cheese. Stir on the lowest speed for 1 minute or until they're well combined.

    Oreo Egg Truffles

Next, scoop a tablespoon of the Oreo mixture and shape it into a 1" inch long egg shape. You can also use a small cookie scoop. Continue making these small egg-shaped balls until you've used all the Oreo mixture.

Freeze half a batch of egg shapes for 15 minutes. Just the outer part of the egg should be cold so when it's dipped the chocolate sets quickly.

If you over-freeze them they will crack when dipped, which is why we're only freezing half a batch at a time.

How to Decorate Easter Egg Oreo Truffles

While the first half of the Oreo eggs are in the freezer, let's prepare the chocolate dip.

Melt white chocolate disks in a medium bowl over a pot of boiling water.

Take the Oreo eggs out of the freezer and dip eggs one at a time into the chocolate using forks.

Take the Oreo eggs out of the freezer and dip eggs one at a time into the chocolate using forks.

Place the dipped truffles onto parchment paper and put sprinkles on them immediately. Once the chocolate begins to set, the sprinkles won't stick.

Take the second half of the Oreo eggs out of the freezer and dunk one egg at a time into the chocolate.

Place these dipped truffles onto parchment paper also, but don't add sprinkles to them. Let them dry completely before moving on to the next step.

When the white chocolate coating is dry on both batches of truffles, it's time to prepare the colored chocolate drizzle.

Put the yellow, green, blue, and pink chocolate candy melts into individual Ziploc sandwich bags. Place the side of the bags with chocolate into a bowl of hot water and allow them to melt.

When the chocolate melts, cut a corner off each Ziploc bag and drizzle the chocolate over the egg shapes.

Let everything cool completely again before moving on to the next step.

Trim off excess chocolate around the base of the truffles with a thin, sharp knife.

Carefully twist and lift each truffle off the parchment paper and put them into mini-cupcake liners.

If the truffles and chocolate aren't completely dry, chunks of them may break off the bottom when removing them from the parchment paper. Make sure to give them enough time to dry completely for a clean presentation.

Refrigerate the truffles until ready to serve. If you like the insides a little softer, take them out of the fridge 30 minutes before serving.

Your delicious Easter Egg Oreo Truffles are ready to be served!

These Easter Egg Oreo Truffles are not only adorable, but they're also super easy to make using panty staple ingredients! It's so easy, even kids can make them!

For the full list of ingredients and instructions, see the recipe card below.

    Recipe Tips

Soften the cream cheese: Make sure to use softened cream cheese when mixing it with the Oreos. If it's too cold, it will be lumpy and won't blend evenly with the cookie crumbs.

Don't microwave the chocolate: Be sure to use hot water when melting the chocolate instead of microwaving it. Chocolate tends to scorch very quickly, which will ruin the taste.

Thoroughly coat the eggs: Make sure each truffle is thoroughly coated with white chocolate before drizzling the other colors. If you don't the colored chocolate will seep through and make an uneven coating.

    Substitutions and Variations

    • Change the chocolate: Instead of using white chocolate, you can use dark or milk chocolate for a different flavor. You can also add almond extract to the melted chocolate for a nutty taste.
    • Add some nuts: Chopped almonds, pecans, walnuts, and hazelnuts all make great additions to these truffles. Add them before the final step by spring ling them on top of the chocolate before it sets.
    • Mix in candy: Add some crushed candy canes to the Oreo mixture for a peppermint twist. Or, add some chopped-up peanut butter cups for a double dose of sweetness.

    How to Store Leftovers

If you have leftover Easter egg Oreo truffles, the best way to store them is in an airtight container in the refrigerator. The leftovers will stay fresh and creamy for up to 4 days.

You can also freeze your oreo cookie balls before coating them in chocolate for up to 1 month. Allow them to thaw a bit before coating and decorating!

This truffle recipe also makes great adorable and inexpensive gifts.
