It has been very hot outside in the last couple of weeks, keeping kiddos hydrated is more challenging than imagined. They usually ask for juice or some other sugary drink. We know sugar is bad for you in many ways, one of them is that it contributes to dehydration. But water is not very appealing to them and is even thought of as a chore sometimes. So, in this case I've got a perfectly delicious juice for your kids.
This Berry Flavored Water is a much healthier, nutritious and perfect substitute for juice or sodas. The juice that originally comes from the fruit changes the water color and makes it a really attractive kid's drink. My kids have been making this irresistible berry flavored water throughout all berry season from our garden by themselves. I hope you are all enjoy it too! 🙂
Ingredients you will need:
4 cups – raspberries
2 cups – strawberries
½ cup – granulated sugar
10 cups - water
Instructions:
1. Wash raspberries and strawberries. Cut off the steam of the strawberries. Place fruit into a medium glass bowl.
2. Add sugar.
3. Mash the berries with potato masher (you can also use food processor or a blender if you are an adult who’s making the recipe, but for the kiddo’s potato masher will do the job). Add 10 cups of cold water to a pitcher, and then add mashed berries with sugar. Stir well and serve.

Notes
- You can use fresh or frozen berries for this recipe. If you're using frozen berries, there's no need to thaw them first.
- If you prefer your flavored water to be less sweet, you can reduce the amount of sugar or even omit it altogether. The natural sweetness of the berries might
- Don't skip the step of mashing the berries. This helps to release their juices and flavor, giving your water a deliciously fruity kick.
- Feel free to adjust the water-to-fruit ratio to suit your personal preference. If you like a stronger fruit flavor, add more berries.
- This flavored water is best when served chilled. You can let it sit in the refrigerator for a few hours to allow the flavors to infuse, or you can serve it immediately over ice.
- For a fancy presentation, you can add a few whole berries to your pitcher or individual glasses.
- This recipe is easily customizable. You can experiment with different combinations of berries, such as blueberries or blackberries, for varied flavors.
