Hey guys!… 🙂
Another kid-friendly project is up again! Of course there are lots of different fruit you can put on dessert pizza, but strawberry and kiwi is our family’s absolute favorite combination. It seems classic but when it comes to dessert pizzas, there’s just nothing quite like it. You can also make your own sugar cookie dough instead of buying one, which gives it a much better taste.
However, to make this recipe less complicated for the kiddos, we will be using store bought sugar cookie dough today for our crust. This Strawberry Kiwi Dessert Pizza is my kid’s favorite dessert pizza. After its assembled, we cover it with food wrap and store it in the fridge overnight. This allows the crust to get soft and moist, which makes this pizza super lovable. So, lets get started…
Crust Ingredients:
16 oz. – sugar cookie dough (or use Homemade Sugar Cookie Dough Recipe)
Cream (sauce) Ingredients:
4 oz. – cream cheese softened
4 oz. – cool whip thawed
¼ cup – powdered sugar
Pizza topping Ingredients:
3 – Kiwis
20 – Strawberries
Instructions:
1. Place sugar cookie dough on a lightly flour working surface, and then roll out into a circle.
2. Transfer the dough onto a greased pizza baking pan. Roll our pizza toward the edges of the pan and then shape the edges evenly with a spatula or a spoon. Leave some space between the edges of pizza and the pan; this gives extra room for the pizza dough to expand while baking. Otherwise the pizza dough will be falling off your pizza pan and burn on the bottom of the oven and your kitchen will be full of smoke… speaking from experience 🙂 Bake the pizza dough at 325 for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown.
While the pizza crust is baking make the cream and prepare the fruit for the topping. Mix together softened cream cheese, powdered sugar and than add cool whip. Mix it for 1 minute or until smooth. Set aside.
Peel the kiwis and wash them. Remove the stem of strawberries and wash them too. Slice kiwis and strawberries and set aside until ready to use it.
Assembling the Pizza:
Remove the pizza from the oven, let the crust cool for 5 minutes and then slice the crust when it’s still warm (cold crust will be braking during cutting). Cool the crust completely before assembling. Drop the cream in small portions onto a crust for easier spreading.
Spread the cream carefully and evenly. Top with slices strawberries and kiwis. If you like the crust to be crunchy you can serve it right away. We like our crust to be soft and moist. You need to wrap pizza with plastic food wrap and place it into the fridge for 6-8 hour. ENJOY spending time in the kitchen with your KIDDOS!
And of course… ENJOY eating the PIZZA!
