Daisy cupcakes are a delicious and eye-catching treat that everyone can enjoy. These cupcakes are made with a moist and fluffy vanilla cake, topped with a creamy cream cheese frosting. The frosting is piped into the shape of daisy petals to create an attractive and whimsical dessert.

Greek yogurt and butter give the cakes an extra tangy flavor, while the heavy cream in the frosting makes it extra creamy and luxurious. Daisy cupcakes are the perfect way to celebrate any special occasion, or just enjoy a delicious treat. I'm sure you're going to absolutely love them!

What Makes This Daisy Cupcakes Recipe Special?

Presentation: These daisy cupcakes are stunning on any dessert table. They're perfect for special occasions like birthdays or springtime parties.

Taste combination: The real magic of these cupcakes is in the flavor combination. Slightly tangy yogurt and cream cheese pair perfectly with the vanilla cake.

Delicious texture: Daisy cupcakes are a luxurious treat. The creamy frosting and tender crumbs of the cake make them a pleasure to eat.

What You Need to Make Daisy Cupcakes at Home

All you need are some simple, pantry staple ingredients to make the most delicious daisy cupcakes you've ever had. Let's look at each of the ingredients in more detail:

    For the Cupcake Batter:

    • Flour: The first ingredient we'll need for these cupcakes is some all-purpose flour. I like to use organic unbleached flour from Central Milling Company, but regular flour works too.
    • Baking soda: Next we'll add baking soda to the flour for the cupcake dough. It will act as a leavening agent and help our cupcakes be light and fluffy.
    • Baking powder: In conjunction with the baking soda we'll also use some baking powder. It gives the cupcakes structure, resulting in a tender crumb and soft texture.
    • Salt: Salt will also provide some structure to the dough, preventing the cupcakes from being too crumbly. It also enhances the taste of the sweet ingredients.
    • Eggs: We're going to use a few large eggs in our cupcake dough as well. They'll give the cupcakes a rich taste and help them be light and fluffy when they rise.
    • Sugar: As with any good dessert, we're going to use sugar to give our cupcakes a sweet flavor. I like to use organic sugar, but regular sugar works as well.
    • Vanilla extract: Pure vanilla extract is one of the key ingredients in this recipe. It will add a subtle sweetness and flavorful aroma that goes great with the tangy ingredients.
    • Unsalted butter: Butter is another ingredient that will give these cupcakes a rich taste and texture. It's important to use unsalted butter so the cupcakes don't come out too salty.
    • Greek yogurt: The last ingredient we'll need for the batter is Greek yogurt. It makes the cupcakes tender and moist while providing a slightly tangy flavor.
    • 24 cupcake liners: We'll need some cupcake liners to put the dough in. Use your favorite brand or order something like these from Amazon.
All you need are some simple, pantry staple ingredients to make the most delicious daisy cupcakes you've ever had.

    For the Cupcake Frosting:

    • Cream cheese: Cream cheese in the frosting is what really makes these cupcakes special. It has a creamy, luxurious texture with a tangy taste that's great with vanilla cake.
    • Sugar: We're going to need some more sugar for the frosting. The sweetness it adds is perfectly balanced by the cream cheese in the frosting.
    • Heavy whipping cream: We'll use heavy whipping cream to add a great richness to the frosting. It also contributes to the texture, making it light and silky.
    • Yellow food coloring: We need some yellow food coloring to make these cupcakes look like real daisies. You can use gel or natural food coloring.

How to Make Daisy Cupcakes (Step-by-Step)

Making these daisy cupcakes is incredibly easy! Here's how to make them at home step by step:

How to Make Daisy Cupcakes Batter

Start by preheating your oven to 325 F (165 C). Melt butter in a pan or microwave and set it aside to cool.

Line a cupcake pan with cupcake molds and set it aside for later. Next, add the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt to a large mixing bowl and whisk it all together.

Line a cupcake pan with cupcake molds and set it aside for later.

Beat eggs and sugar together on high for 5 minutes with a stand mixer. Reduce the speed to low and add vanilla extract, Greek yogurt, and melted butter. Increase the speed to high and beat for another minute.

Beat eggs and sugar together on high for 5 minutes with a stand mixer.

Reduce the mixing speed to low and then add the sifted flour mixture in small amounts. Mix just until the flour is combined with no lumps in the batter. Be careful not to overbeat the batter during this step.

Reduce the mixing speed to low and then add the sifted flour mixture in small amounts.

Fill the cupcake liners about ¾ full and bake for 20 minutes at 325 F (165 C). A toothpick inserted in the middle of the cupcakes should come out clean when they're done.

Remove from the oven and let the cupcakes cool for 5 minutes. Remove them from the pan and let them cool completely on a wire rack to room temperature before frosting.

Remove them from the pan and let them cool completely on a wire rack to room temperature before frosting.

How to Make Daisy Cupcakes Frosting

Beat cream cheese and sugar on high for 1 minute. Use a silicone spatula to scrape down the cream cheese from the sides of the bowl, then mix the cream for another minute or until all sugar is dissolved.

Add cold heavy whipping cream and scrape down the cream cheese mixture from the sides of the bowl again. Beat the mixture for one minute or until it thickens, gradually increasing the mixing speed to high. The frosting should turn out pretty thick.

How to Pipe Frosting on Daisy Cupcakes

Transfer ½ cup of frosting to a bowl and add yellow food coloring. Mix with a hand whisker just until it's well combined. Fill a 10” decorating bag with yellow icing. You will be using Wilton #2 round piping tip and #199 star.

Fill a 16-inch decorating bag with white cream and a Wilton #104 attachment.

Fill a 10” decorating bag with yellow icing. You will be using Wilton #2 round piping tip and #199 star.

Using a small pedal attachment #104, position the tip flat to the cupcake surface with the narrow end facing towards you.

Continually squeeze the piping bag and pipe strips starting from the edge of the cupcake to the middle all the way around, leaving room for the yellow center. You should get what looks like flower petals when you're done.

Then, using a bag with yellow frosting and Wilton tip #199, pipe out a large star-looking dot in the center of the cupcake. Then switch the tip to Wilton #2 and pipe small dots all the way around the large dot. This makes what looks like the center of the daisy. Repeat this process with all the cupcakes.

Place the decorated cupcakes into a storage container and close it tightly with a lid. Let them sit for 8 to 24 hours for the cream cake sponge to soften.

Tips for Making the Best Daisy Cupcakes Ever

Let the cupcakes cool: When the cupcakes are done cooking, be sure to let them cool completely. This will prevent the frosting from melting.

Use cold dairy products: When making the frosting, use cold cream cheese and whipping cream. It helps your frosting hold its shape better while piping.

Sift dry ingredients: Be sure to thoroughly sift all the dry ingredients so you don't end up with any lumps in your batter.

Recipe Variation Ideas for Daisy Cupcakes

These delicious Daisy Cupcakes are absolutely perfect as is, but if you're looking for ways to change things up here are a few ideas you can try:

Add toppings: If you'd like to add a little something extra, top these cute Daisy Cupcakes with edible daisy decorations or sprinkle them with colored sugar before serving.

Try different flavors: You can also get creative with the flavors of your cupcakes. Try adding a teaspoon of almond extract or lemon zest to the batter.

Use different frostings: If you're not a fan of cream cheese frosting, you can also try using vanilla buttercream frosting instead.

How to Store Leftover Daisy Cupcakes

Leftover Daisy Cupcakes can be stored in an airtight container and kept at room temperature for up to three days. To extend the shelf life, keep them in the refrigerator for up to one week.

If you would like to freeze the cupcakes, wrap them individually in plastic wrap and place them into a freezer-safe container. They will last up to three months. Before serving, allow the cupcakes to reach room temperature before serving.

Be sure to thoroughly sift all the dry ingredients so you don't end up with any lumps in your batter.

I made these yesterday for my sons birthday! I used sour cream instead of yogurt in the cupcake recipe because that is what I had on hand and it turned out well. I wanted to try something new so once the cupcakes cooled I used a spoon to remove some cake and I used your cream to fill the dents. Then I made a buttercream to top them off and decorate. I like the cupcakes a lot because it is more of a muffin consistency texture but I would recommend to stick to using just the cream in this recipe because it’s delicious and I wish I decorated the top with the same cream cheese frosting because that cream compliments well with the cup cake batter. Thank you Valya for your hard work and sharing your recipes with us. Blessings !
