Pie Crust Ingredients – ▢2 - cups - organic all-purpose flour + ½ cup for dusting – ▢1 tsp. - sea salt – ▢10 oz. - cold unsalted butter – ▢½ cup - cold water Apple Pie Filling Ingredients – ▢7 3 lbs. large - Granny Smith apples – ▢½ cup - organic sugar – ▢⅓ cup - cane brown sugar – ▢¼ cup - organic all-purpose flour – ▢½ tbsp. - ground cinnamon – ▢¼ tsp. - ground nutmeg – ▢3 tbsp. - unsalted butter + 1 tbsp. for greasing the pie dish
In a bowl, mix 2 ½ cups of all-purpose flour and 1 tsp of salt. Add 1 cup of cold, cubed unsalted butter. Blend until it resembles coarse crumbs. Drizzle cold water over the crumbs while mixing until the dough forms a ball. Split the dough into 2 disks, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for an hour.
Grease a pie dish. Roll out one dough disk, place in the dish, and cut the edge evenly. Compactly layer apple slices in the crust. Roll out the second disk, cut leaves, and place them on the pie edge. Add sliced butter over apples, cover with foil, and bake for 1 hour. Uncover and bake for 15 more minutes until golden brown.
