The Perfect  Burger Bun

This homemade burger bun recipe is the only one you’ll need for the softest, most flavorful, and rich burger buns that taste even better than store-bought ones!

Ingredients

– 1 ½ cups – water – ▢⅓ cup – organic sugar – ▢1 tbsp. – yeast – ▢2 – medium eggs – ▢4 oz. – butter – ▢½ tsp. – sea salt – ▢6 cups – all-purpose flour

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, warm water, yeast, and sugar. Stir and let the mixture sit for 5-10 minutes or until the yeast becomes foamy.

Step 2

Add melted butter, egg, and salt to the mixture. Mix with an electric mixer or by hand. Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, mixing after each addition until the dough forms a ball.

Step 3

Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Step 4

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 5

Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 8-10 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and place it on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 6

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolk and water. Brush the mixture over the top of each dough ball. If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds over the top of each dough ball.

Step 7

Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the buns are golden brown and cooked through.

Remove from the oven and let the buns cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
