This is a classic Ukrainian salad that keeps making the favorite and frequent list. This fresh goodness is created from cucumber, tomato, and onion and is made out of fresh home grown produce. We make this salad a lot in the summer because these particular veggies grow in abundance in our garden and its so simple to produce. This salad does not taste the same if you make it out of store bought vegetables.
To get the true benefit and flavor of it, get your hands on some home grown veggies. Despite of how chopped this salad looks, you don’t actually spend a lot of time cutting and making it, it’s quick and easy. The onion in this salad gives it a hint of oniony taste and crispness, and the seasoning makes the salad so delicious and just tempting. This is how you get your kids to eat their veggies, its really yummy and not to mention super healthy! It’s commonly said that kids don’t like to eat veggies.
If you always buy these veggies from the store, they get pretty bland and boring to eat. Dull tasting cucumber with tomato flavored rubber, yum? Gulp.. 🙁 No wonder kids don’t want to eat that. So pick up a healthy batch of veggies at a farmers market – if you don’t already grow a garden – (I cannot stress this enough) and see for yourself just how tasty it is and how easy it goes down. If your child asks for more salad, you know it’s really good. And what’s healthier than 100% organic? That’s the way The Lord made it, and it was good. 😀
Things you will need:
6 – cucumbers
6 – tomatoes
2 small – onions
¼ tsp. – black ground pepper
½ tbsp. – salt
2 tbsp. – vegetable oil
Wash your vegetables, slice them and put them in the large salad bowl. Mixing the ingredients should be done ONLY right before serving or else it will water a lot.
Add black ground pepper, salt and vegetable oil.
Mix it all together spooning from the bottom of the bowl to the top and serve immediately.
